Anachronism
The piece was written on 4th November 1969, after two months of study at the secondary music school in Katowice. This is probably the earliest Andrzej Krzanowski’s composition preserved. The subtitle Katedra [Cathedral] brings to mind his later work of the same title (1979). Analogies are noticeable but only in certain fragments. The later Cathedral for accordion (published in the Third Book) was created from these sound ideas. Anachronism, despite the use of dissonant chords, has a romantic meaning and its form is overloaded, which is quite typical of the early works of young composers. In the later Katedra, compositional means and motivic material were limited, and the composition was presented in a very legible formal shape.
