It is another cyclical piece, containing four miniatures, each of which is a separate musical story. The calm and melodious first movement is played mainly in triplets, the second introduces harsh chord repetitions, the third emphasises chromatically shifting thirds, and in the danceable fourth movement, one can hear a persistently repeated melody in the Gypsy scale. The last two movements were arranged for piano and included in the series Miniatures. Novella IV also appears as an independent work under the name Gypsy Dance.
